Privacy

The short version: we count visits so we know what’s working, without cookies and without keeping your IP address. Here’s exactly what we record.

When you visit a page

For each page you open, our server saves one record with:

  • the page you opened and the time
  • the website that linked you here, as its domain only (like google.com), if there was one
  • your approximate location (country, region and city), worked out by our host, Cloudflare, from your connection
  • the kind of device (phone, tablet or computer) and browser (like Chrome or Safari)
  • an anonymous visitor ID, so we can tell how many different people visited. It’s a one-way scrambled code made from a secret, the date, your IP address and your browser. It changes every day, so it can’t be used to follow you from one day to the next, and it can’t be turned back into your IP address.

Your IP address itself is never saved. Search engines, link previews and other automated visitors are left out.

When you click certain buttons

Some buttons and links are marked for counting, like “Book a trip”, the package buttons, opening the goose chat, our WhatsApp, email and Instagram links, and opening a gallery photo. When you click one, we save which one it was, the page it was on, the first page of your visit, the time, the linking website’s domain, your country and the same daily visitor ID.

Clicks from one visit are grouped together using a random ID kept in your browser tab’s session storage. It’s deleted when you close the tab and is never stored in a cookie.

If you arrive through one of our shared links (troosetours.com/ref/…), we count that visit the same way, then send you on to the page.

No cookies

The public site sets no cookies. Your browser keeps a few things for itself that never reach us: the visit ID above and your goose chat conversation stay in that tab until you close it, and your recent searches in the search box stay on your device.

Booking requests, messages and the goose chat

When you send a booking request or a message from the contact form, we store what you typed (your name, email, phone and the details you give us) and may email ourselves a copy, so we can reply. Booking requests and messages are stored until we delete them.

Questions you ask the goose chat are sent to Anthropic, the company whose AI writes the replies. We don’t save the conversation on our side.

How long we keep it, and who sees it

Visit and click records are deleted automatically after 13 months. Only the people who run Troose Tours can see them, in a private, password-protected admin area.

We don’t sell or share any of this, and we don’t use advertising or third-party tracking.

Google search numbers

We also look at Google Search Console, Google’s report on how often our site shows up in Google search results, which searches led people here, and totals by page, country and device. Google only gives us these totals, never anything about a single person, and nothing extra runs on our site for it.

Questions

Email us at hello@troosetours.com and we’ll tell you what we have, or delete a booking request or message you sent.
